Renaissance, founded in 1997 by two pharmaceuticals managers located in London and Basel, concentrates on financing young biotech, pharmaceutical and medical technology firms. The firm aim is to set up and support early-stage biotech and healthcare companies, mainly in the Basel area and the United Kingdom. The managers make full use of their network of contacts in the pharmaceutical industry, universities, hospitals and research institutes. Besides start-up financing, the firm also invests in established companies requiring additional equity capital for expansion programs. Renaissance will also invest in companies exploiting niches and specialties.
