About
Crocus Investment provided private equity funding to Manitoba-based companies. Individual investors could purchase shares in a pool of assets to raise the necessary capital with the objective of achieving long-term appreciation for its shareholders. Crocus invested in small and mid-sized companies and invested in approximately 55 different companies. In 2004-05, the company stopped trading and was forced into receivership following allegations that it misled shareholders and overvalued its assets. Deloitte & Touche was appointed Receiver and Manager of Crocus Investment Fund (“Crocus”) by the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench pursuant to an application made by the Manitoba Securities Commission. The intent of the Receiver and Manager is to realize the assets of Crocus for the benefit of the various stakeholders.
