About
Absolute Private Equity is an investment company listed on the Swiss stock exchange. The company's objective is to realise complex returns in excess of those available through conventional investments in the public equity markets. The company primarily invests in funds across various sectors of the private equity market focusing on US, European and global buyout and venture capital funds. At the end of 2009 Absolute Private Equity officially reported that it had decided to stop investing in the private equity asset class due to liquidity issues. In 2010, it began looking for a buyer. In June 2011, HarbourVest Partners offered a price at 34% premium to Absolute’s average share prices which values the company at USD 752 million. The transaction – which requires at least 50.01% of all Absolute shares to be tendered – is scheduled for completion by end of August 2011. In September 2011, Absolute Private Equity's shareholders accepted an offer from HarbourVest Partners.
