About
Daiwa Corporate Investment (DCI) is a private equity fund management arm of Daiwa Securities Group. Based in Tokyo, it targets venture, growth, and buyout opportunities primarily in Japan, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the rest of Asia. The firm invests across a wide range of industries, including IT, life sciences, consumer services, media, financial services, restaurants, and distribution sectors. DCI is an active, hands-on investor and lends its global network and financial expertise to grow the value and business of its investee companies. DCI's origins trace back to Nippon Investment & Finance, founded in 1982, which was later merged with Daiwa Finance in 2000 to become NIF Ventures. NIF Ventures then merged with SMBC Capital in 2005 to form NIF SMBC Ventures (later rebranded as Daiwa SMBC Capital in 2008) as Daiwa Securities Group. Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group decided to consolidate their private equity operations to better utilize their resources. The joint venture was terminated in 2010 after which DCI was newly established to succeed the business operations of the predecessor. DCI currently operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daiwa Capital Holdings.
