HM Capital Partners (HMCP) is the successor firm to Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst. Based in Dallas, Texas, HM Capital Partners makes control investments in the energy, food and media sectors. HMCP seeks investment opportunities in middle-market, cash generative businesses that have strong competitive positions with significant value creation opportunities. Investments include acquisitions of divisions or assets from large corporations, acquisitions or recapitalisations of privately owned or publicly traded businesses, and acquisitions of distressed businesses either through a restructuring or bankruptcy process. HM Capital Partners started winding down in Q1 2012. Its investments will be managed by a team of the firm's professionals who are forming a new private equity firm focused on food and consumer products, Kainos Capital. HM Capital Partners' energy investment professionals have spun-out to form Tailwater Capital, which is partnering with Landmark Partners to complete the secondary purchase of HM Capital's energy portfolio.
