Penn Venture Partners was formed to take advantage of investment opportunities in Central and Northern Pennsylvania. The firm targets companies with successful products and services or proven technologies and market niches that offer the potential for growth and attractive returns. Industries targeted for investment include manufacturing, basic industries (such as materials and material technology, printing, powdered metals, tool and die, agribusiness, and environmental technology), computer hardware and software, interactive media, networking, educational products and services, control systems, industrial automation, energy, telecommunications, biotechnology and the life sciences. Penn Venture Partners may participate as a sole investor or lead and co-invest with other qualified institutional investors, private equity funds and strategic partners. On the other hand, the firm is restricted from investing in companies whose principal business is re-lending or re-investing, leasing companies, real estate projects, single purpose projects, offshore businesses, passive businesses and businesses using half percent or more funds to buy goods or services from an associated supplier.
