About
Basic Capital Management (BCM) is a Tokyo-based private equity firm focusing on small to mid-cap buyout fund investments in Japan. It targets investment opportunities arising from business succession, corporate restructuring (carve-out) and recapitalization needs. The firm targets small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with competitive advantage and/or significant contribution to the society. It adopts ESG investment policy committed to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). BCM was originally established as a joint venture between Mizuho Securities, Orix, and Merrill Lynch Japan Finance. The firm was later acquired by Mizuho Securities in 2006 and became independent through a management buyout (MBO) in 2018. It retains a close partnership with Mizuho Financial Group after its MBO.
