UTokyo Innovation Platform, also known as UTokyo IPC, is a Tokyo-based private equity firm (Investor) and incubator focusing on venture businesses born out of the University of Tokyo. As a public-private fund backed by the Japanese government, the firm is dedicated to promoting innovation by funding and supporting entrepreneurs and business seeds in partnership with the private sector. UTokyo IPC invests across all stages of development, across diversified sectors and different regions and countries, but only in businesses that are related to the University of Tokyo or other public universities in Japan (i.e. businesses using research outcomes, intellectual properties, or technologies developed at such universities). It makes LP investments in other Japan-based venture capital funds with a similar investment focus as a means to cultivate venture capital businesses and ecosystems in Japan. As well, it invests in curve-out and joint venture opportunities in collaboration with Japanese corporate businesses. The firm focus on Seed, start-up, spin-offs, venture capital invest globally in pharmaceuticals, aerospace, information technology, AI, robotics across Japan.
