Churchill Equity was formed in 1987 under the name Churchill Capital, closing its first investment fund in 1989, and initially focused on providing subordinated debt capital to middle market companies. The Company expanded its focus in 1995 with the offering of its first equity capital fund, Churchill ESOP Capital Partners with USD 188 million of committed capital. Its subordinated debt business and the name 'Churchill Capital' were sold early in 2007. Churchill Equity specialises in recapitalizations, acquisitions, buyouts and growth transactions, focusing on middle market businesses throughout the US and Canada with revenues typically between USD 30 and USD 300 million. As of 2013, Churchill Equity is no longer active within private equity.
