Formed in January 2013, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Fund Corporation for Innovation, Value-chain and Expansion Japan (A-FIVE) is a private equity firm established by the Japanese government and private firms to facilitate collaborative and integration efforts among primary, secondary and tertiary industries in Japan's agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors as part of the sixth sector industrialization initiatives. Supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, A-FIVE seeks to promote the growth and development of these sectors through provision of capital, policy support and transfer of knowledge and expertise to related companies and workers with the aim of increasing farmers' income, and the sale and export of agricultural, forestry and fisheries produce and food products. As of December 2019, it was announced that the government agency will stop making new investments by March 2021.
