The market opportunity to pursue the firm's investment strategy in Sub-Saharan Africa is driven by a growing demand for commodities against a backdrop of finite natural resources and a scarcity of capital for project development. The fund manager does not invest in commodities that are highly price elastic, where there is strong potential for substitution and/or for which a single mine or project can significantly alter the market balance for the entire commodity.
