UNIVA Oak Holdings (formerly Oak Capital) is a Tokyo-based private equity firm targeting buyout, growth, and venture capital opportunities in Japan. Through its investment banking division, the firm invests in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) tackling corporate restructuring, business turnaround, and succession issues as well as venture companies looking to go IPO. It invests across a wide range of industries including FinTech, IoT, VR, internet, software, telecom, and healthcare. The firm used to be a textile company manufacturing cotton yarn and fishing nets as Hirata Shoten. The firm started its investment business in 2001 and re-branded as Oak Capital, moving its headquarters to Tokyo in 2006. In 2023, the firm changed its direction from investment banking to a value co-creation business, changing its name to UNIVA Oak Holdings. Its stock shares have been listed in the 2nd section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange since 1949.
